”I started studying visual arts and philosophy in Paris. Ceramics came into my life later, when I studied sculpture in Barcelona in 2016. In 2018 I moved to Mexico City and worked in the ceramics field and traveled across the country. My inspiration in the investigation of the shapes and colors I use and experiment with have their source in all the images and experiences from the different landscapes, nature, cities and history I have been in contact with. The collection is made of functional and sculptural ceramic vessels handmade in grey stoneware clay, using the techniques of slab building, coil building and wheelthrowing. What I seek is the experience of doing, the process of building and transforming matter. Clay has its own temporality and challenging manipulation process, it forces you to stop, feel and observe everything: the material, the environment, the conditions, humidity, heat... everything imprints into the matter and creates a sort of memory.” (Laura)
Propósito & Missão
”We live in a time where production processes and materials are important to be as little damaging to the planet as possible. With handmade ceramics we can combine utility, design, and ethics in an object, while reducing single use items in our daily life. It is a priority for me to be completely transparent regarding the process I follow and materials I use.” (Laura)
Local de Produção e Montagem
Athens, Greece
Materiais
“Clay and materials for ceramics are all natural organic and artificial materials (oxides, silica, clay, pigments, etc) and I take all of the safety measures during the process and make sure the final product is totally food safe.” (Laura)
Embalagem
“Each item is packaged carefully wrapped in newspaper and protected by recycled bubble wrap or other recycled materials. I use as many recycled materials as I can and paper tapes with eco-friendly glue making sure that the objects are safe for shipping.” (Laura)
Método de Criação
“I work in a small artist-run space in the center of Athens which is walking distance from where I live. I make small batches of ceramics each time for a more space efficient production process. I make my pieces using the technique of slab building, coil build and wheelthrowing. Every piece is made by hand and enjoys slight differences in size and glaze application, which make them unique.” (Laura)
Uso & Conservação
“Stoneware clay is a very strong and insulating material. You can safely wash each item in the dishwasher or by hand. Handle your ceramics with care and they will last you a lifetime, even two!” (Laura)
