    Brand Story

"Ervas da Zoé is our family project, founded in 2007 with the wish and necessity to lead a life connected to nature and an activity which would truly be ours. We left a 30 year long city life with a mission to contribute to the revival of the Portuguese ‘Beira Interior’ and rural world. Our journey was also greatly motivated by the age of our children." (Henrique Manso & Rosário Martins)

    Purpose & Mission

“Our purpose and mission is to produce high quality traditional Portuguese products, such as teas, aromatic herbs, olive oil, fruit and vegetables in an organic and socially conscious method.

We wish to generate human, social and economic abundance for our region, contributing to maintain the heritage and fight desertification.

Producing with organic certificates (Agricert) — all our products are a result of sustainable farming. We apply techniques to protect our soil and to promote the biodiversity of our milieu. Our production is small scale to maintain quality and to utilise as little machinery as possible.

In addition to us, our team also includes Paula Martins and Rosa Marques who live in our local village. They have been a part of Ervas da Zoé for five years, full-time and receive a living wage, as well as a share in annual profits.

We collaborate in partnership with the social inclusion association APPACDM-CB (Associação Portuguesa de Pais e Amigos do Cidadão Deficiente Mental de Castelo Branco) via the acquisition of plants that are produced by the patients." (Henrique Manso & Rosário Martins)

"We use recycled cardboard with PEFC certification and will soon change all our packaging to vegetable and biodegradable 'plastic'." (Henrique Manso & Rosário Martins)

    Method of Creation

"We practice composting with all organic waste from our farm and home." (Henrique Manso & Rosário Martins)

    Use & Maintenance

"You can keep our products for two years while closed at a cool temperature, protected from the sun. For best results allow water to boil in a pot, then switch off the stove and place the product in the hot water, covering it with a lid for five to 10 minutes. Do not place the plants in the hot water pot." (Henrique Manso & Rosário Martins)
