      Brand Story

      “We contemplated Cheza for a long time before founding and once we moved to Portugal we quickly realised it was the perfect time to launch our vision. Most of all we were confident that the strong textile and clothing manufacturing sector in Portugal would help us ensure we maintained production and distribution as local as possible.

      Cheza joins both of our lives' experience. We have both lived in many places around the world and aim to create pieces embedded with this mix of influences. Pieces that bring people and cultures together and that are manufactured in a sustainable way. The collections are evolving with the impulsion of the people we meet, the places we visit and the fabric we find. It has been the greatest experience, to learn and dive into this new sector.” (Mari & Clément)

      Purpose & Mission

      “We aim to be a part of the positive change in the fashion industry. We believe in local healthy communities built on resilient jobs, developing strong products. If technological innovation allows us to decentralise the global production of goods, it is our mission to be a part of it. Our goal is to channel our creativity through fashion and include the people around us in the process, either by producing or wearing our products.” (Mari & Clément)

      Materials

      “All of the materials used in our garments are sourced from excess stock from Portuguese factories.” (Mari & Clément)

      Packaging

      We try to limit worldwide shipping and like to distribute our pieces ourselves if possible. When physically impossible, we send them by mail using a 100 per cent compostable mailer.” (Mari & Clément)

      Method of Creation

      “The ideation of each piece is born from Mari's and my creative and collaborative communication. Our curiosity for strongly local aesthetics from around the world and our desire to integrate them together. We then work hand in hand with a seamstress, and a graphic designer when needed, to create this vision.

      Since we are only producing a limited amount of pieces, the person who supports us with the final design is also the person taking care of the production. We never produce more than 10 to 15 pieces and often less, depending on the fabrics we find. We try to select strong materials to build lasting clothing items.” (Mari & Clément)

      Use & Maintenance

      “All our clothing items must be washed on a cool or cold wash cycle (never above 30ºC) using gentle and environmentally friendly detergents. In order to maintain the quality of the garments do not tumble dry and do not bleach. Steam iron for best results.” (Mari & Clément)
